27 weeks
It was now April, and my pregnancy was going normal, just the spotting, but that was normal according to the Dr's I saw. I was going to therapy for my anxiety during COVID. I finally took a drive to grab some food at In N Out, and I even did a 25 min target run. You know, taking baby steps one day at a time. I had missed my OBGYN appointment in March due to the pandemic, and it was the month that I had to take the dreadful glucose test. My Dr's office called me if I wanted to make a "drive-thru" appointment. I denied and said I was already going for blood work and glucose test.
I went in for the tests and my appointment, and everything went well, and I was heading home. I turned off my phone to relax a bit, and once I got home, I had a few missed calls and my husband calling me frantically. He told me that my OBGYN was looking for me and to call her back right away. When I called her, she informed me that my protein levels were too high and that my blood pressure was high and to go straight to Labor and Delivery for observation. My heart dropped, and I instantly cried. Preeclampsia is such a dangerous thing during pregnancy, and I couldn't believe this was happening to me. I told my parents and my husband that I had to leave for the hospital. The mood completely changed, but like the amazing people they are, they told me "not to worry," but that was a little late.
I went to the hospital on my own because no visitors were allowed. I got there for observation and stayed there overnight because they noticed the baby's heartbeat dropped. The OBGYN told me, "honey, we might have to deliver the baby today." How can this be? I am only 27 weeks pregnant, and all this is going on. I don't have anything ready for the baby, how can she come now!
